Understanding & Managing Anxiety 😰 This Monthly Wellbeing Workshop is about anxiety and stress as exam season is upon us. In this workshop, shared by our Clinical Supervisor Catherine, we practice understanding our anxiety and learning strategies to manage it. The idea is to ask the young people to draw a map of a body, showcasing where the anxiety symptoms appear and then continuing to draw how anxiety affects them, such as headache, disturbed sleep and low mood. Finally after reassuring that their feelings are valid and normal responses to anxiety, start a conversation asking how do you manage when you are not feeling ok. Wellbeing Activity Highlights ✨ Our wonderful Wellbeing Lead at @st.patrickscollege, Stacey, hosted a lovely tea party in celebration of International Women's Day back in March. Their Wellbeing Hub was filled with treats and an amazing atmosphere to embrace this year's theme for the day - #inspireinclusion 🫶 Wellbeing Hubs are welcoming, relaxing and safe places for students to go to meet the Wellbeing Lead and take part in the regular workshops, assemblies and enrichment sessions - such as event celebrations. Wellbeing Leads actively promote positive wellbeing and support the students on their journey through education and beyond. 96% of 1300 young responders felt anxious about exams and revision in the UK🔹 Students themselves and the school communities have shared with us that stress and anxiety coming from exams is negatively affecting them a lot. Many young people feel a lot of pressure to achieve highly from the schools, peers, families and overall communities. Being aware that stress and anxiety around exams is having a massive impact on the wellbeing of our young people, our dedicated Wellbeing Leads are taking steps to battle these feelings. They are providing students with wellbeing support by running workshops on how to recognise stress, and providing tools and resources on how to manage anxiety. mdeducational foundation is a charity prioritising student wellbeing 🦋 We know there are significant challenges facing the education and wellbeing sectors in the UK, with NHS referrals increasing by 25.7% in young people ages 16 – 19. Now more than ever, intervention is needed - so we're stepping up. Our mission is for all post-16 students to feel supported in every aspect of their wellbeing, helping them on their journey to a brighter future. We are aiming for a world in which every student has access to the wellbeing support they need, without delay. Our approach is to enable educational settings to kickstart their long-term wellbeing strategies by providing a three-year salary-funded commitment to placing dedicated wellbeing professionals within post-16 educational settings across the UK and Ireland. Our Wellbeing Leads promote positive wellbeing through the delivery of a wellbeing curriculum. They support students' wellbeing by normalising student psychological fitness and resilience through guidance and early intervention.
